Introduction to Sealing Issues of Fluoroplastic Pumps

Aug 29, 2024

Leak free is an eternal pursuit in the manufacturing of chemical equipment, which has led to the increasing application of pneumatic plastic pumps. However, there is still a long way to go to truly achieve zero leakage, such as issues with the lifespan of partitions, material pitting, and reliability of static seals. The sealing problem of fluoroplastic pumps is introduced as follows: 1. Sealing form: Regarding static sealing, there are usually only two forms: sealing gasket and sealing ring, but sealing ring is widely used in O-ring; In terms of dynamic sealing, chemical pumps mainly use mechanical seals, which have one end face and two end faces. There are balanced and unbalanced types. The balanced type is suitable for sealing high-pressure media, and the mechanical seals on both ends should be injected into the sealed chamber. The pressure is generally 0.07~0.1MPa higher than the medium pressure. Single end mechanical seals have the advantages of easy installation and maintenance, no need to install cooling isolation fluid, and moderate price. They are widely used in chemical pumps

Sealing material. The material configuration of mechanical seals is crucial, not necessarily the best choice between hard alloy and cemented carbide. On the other hand, the high price is also unreasonable, as there is no difference in hardness between the two. Therefore, it is best to distinguish based on the characteristics of the media. The contact surfaces of our company's mechanical seals include silicon carbide to four gas carbon, silicon carbide to carbide brick, alumina ceramic to four gas carbon, carbide brick to alumina ceramic, hard alloy, etc. Users can choose fluorine pump to transport media. 3. Viscosity issue: The viscosity of the medium has a significant impact on the performance of the pump, but an increase in viscosity will cause a decrease in the pump head curve, a decrease in the head and flow rate under optimal working conditions, an increase in power, and ultimately a decrease in efficiency. The parameters on general samples are the performance when transporting clean water, and must be converted when transporting viscous media. The above is an introduction to the sealing problem of fluoroplastic pumps. Thank you for reading.
